Christ Church Cathedral celebrates the life and work of the late Ted Harrison with a public exhibition and sale of his art at the Chapel of the New Jerusalem from April 7th to 24th, 2015, weekdays from 10am-5pm. For two weeks, the magnificent stained glass windows of the Cathedral’s Chapel of the New Jerusalem will illuminate a wide selection of Harrison’s joyous works.

The Cathedral is including this event in its 150th anniversary celebrations because of Harrison’s association with the Anglican Church of Canada. While living in the Yukon, he spent many years as organist and warden at historic St. Saviour’s Anglican Church in Carcross, and designed stained glass windows for the Cathedral in Whitehorse.

Shortly after he came to the Yukon, Harrison’s art underwent a sudden transformation to the brilliant, colourful style for which he became world famous. After he moved to Victoria, his OakBay studio was often visited by art lovers of all ages. Several of them are lending their private copies of his work to the exhibit.

In honour of his father, Ted’s son Charles has donated ten beautiful limited-edition prints of some of his most famous and beloved images, which are numbered, signed, dated and framed. They will be sold by silent auction during the exhibition. Copies of books written about, or contributed to, by Ted Harrison will also be available.

All sale proceeds will go to the Cathedral’s newly established 150th anniversary fund, in support of its ongoing ministry to the city.
